A well-equipped meteorological station with automated equipment is maintained by the Department of Agricultural Engineering for teaching and research activities. Since the inception of the faculty the meteorological station was well maintained by the Agric. Engineering Department. Now it has developed as a core meteorological station in the Southern region providing day to day meteorological parameters to Department of Meteorology in Sri Lanka. Programs are underway to automate the weather station with modern instruments in collaboration JICA and meteorological department of Sri Lanka. Data recorded in the station is available for researchers of all over the country.
